MBEC = Mike Bernie's Entertainment Company.
The year was 1985,
His real name was Bernard Chin, but musicians and singers in this country knew him as Mike Bernie Chin.
No one could organize professional open-air concerts like he could. Mike Bernie's ways were always different from the rest. His perspectives on stage presentation were always different...well thought of, well planned and very professional.
Sometime around 1987 or 1988, he won a million bucks in the lottery.

I remember his daughter Lynette, who was about 20 or 21. She used to come by MBEC sometimes and watch our rehearsals.

I remember talking to her about hair color, hair tint and bleaching.

There was this one time I was driving home in the evening, when I saw Lynette in a bus. I waved. She waved back. The next time I saw her, she was lying in a coffin.

Seems that Lynette had a boyfriend, but Mike wasn't pleased...and now as a Spirit filled, born again Christian, Mike told her it was sinful and etc.etc.
She took an overdose of sleeping pills. Initially, we were led to believe ít was a swimming accident. What a pity.

So young.

I never met Mike Bernie again after Lynette's funeral.
By 1990, he had closed down MBEC and established a new business elsewhere, Asia Entertainment Network. His name appeared in many events...in local newspapers and was interviewed on TV.
I was ìn Digitron Studio the night I heard he passed away on December 20th, 2000.

No matter what the competition may have said about him, I will always think of Mike Bernie as THE BEST artiste manager this country had ever seen.
